Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsa Seriri, which translates to "Abstract Smell," is one of ten fragrances released in 2021 by Woudacieux Haute Parfumerie. The name itself suggests an idea rather than a place, an abstraction made tactile through scent. Mahsa Seriri speaks the language of pistachio groves and temple smoke, Turkish rose gardens, and wood that remembers the forest it came from. The composition draws on notes like roasted pistachio and almond, milk and angelica, Moroccan basil and cumin, Turkish rose and Indonesian patchouli, callitris columellaris (Australian blue cypress), two forms of sandalwood (Tasmanian and false), and the meditative depths of Buddha wood alongside teakwood.
What sets this composition apart is its layering of the gourmand-adjacent (roasted pistachio, almond, milk) against genuinely structural materials like Buddha wood, teakwood, and Tasmanian sandalwood, with false sandalwood adding a creamy counterpoint. Most fragrances that flirt with nutty or lactonic openings either commit fully to sweetness or pivot hard into something else. Mahsa Seriri holds the tension. The angelica and Moroccan basil keep things green and slightly sharp at the top, offering a cooling herbal counterweight that prevents the roasted notes from reading as purely edible.
The evolution

Indonesian patchouli leaf anchors the heart alongside callitris columellaris (Australian blue cypress), which adds a smoky, almost resinous undertone that bridges the floral and the wood.
