Oud Royale

Cedar provides the vertical support, holding the brighter top notes aloft while patchouli and musk anchor the base, allowing the agarwood to emerge gradually as a foundation rather than arriving all at once. This kind of layering creates a composition that feels deliberate in every phase.

The evolution

The opening arrives with a brightness that catches you slightly off guard. Cedar and lemon dominate the top with an almost architectural crispness, the kind of entry that makes you check whether you actually sprayed an oud fragrance. Orange softens the edges slightly, adding warmth without weight, and for a brief window the whole composition reads as a sharp woody citrus, closer to a cologne than anything with agarwood in the base. Then the iris arrives. It doesn't crash in. It settles, powdery and cool, and the rose threads through it with a restrained sweetness that never tips into syrup. The saffron fully emerges as the composition moves past its opening phase, and this is where the fragrance commits to its real identity. The powdery iris gives way to a golden, almost resinous warmth, and the smoke that was implicit in the early stages becomes explicit. The cedar doesn't disappear.
