The beginning
Dancing Leaves came from a simple observation: what happens to a forest when the seasons turn? The Woods Collection built its identity around nature's vocabulary, sandalwood, patchouli, resins, and in 2016, the brand turned its attention to the moment between abundance and dormancy. Leaves don't simply fall. They dance. They're caught, briefly, in that suspended space between attached and gone. The perfumer translated that into a fragrance structure that mirrors the observation itself, green, living energy giving way to something warmer, older, more grounded. The opening conjures that suspended state, leaves still clinging but already loosening, a fragrance that captures the anticipation of change before the change itself arrives.
The heart of Dancing Leaves is where the tension lives. Rose and African geranium are not typical partners, geranium carries a bright, almost crisp greenness that rose alone doesn't possess. But paired here, they create a cool floral that resists sweetness. The sandalwood in the heart doesn't announce itself, it softens the edges, creating a creamy middle ground that keeps the florals from lifting away. Patchouli anchors the base with its characteristic earthiness, but the white flowers add a delicate, almost translucent quality to the drydown.

The opening hits fresh and green, that immediate sensation of crushed leaves and damp earth. Within minutes the florals arrive. Not all at once.
