The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Only 100 bottles exist of this one. That's not marketing spin. Une Rose Pakistani launched in 2022 as part of Dua's Original Blend Collection, a limited release conceived by Syed Yousaf Shah and Shehroz Malik as an homage to Pakistan, the country the brand's founder calls home. The name tells you what's inside. Rose, yes, but the kind rooted in tradition and soil, the one that carries its origin in the absolute and otto forms prized across the subcontinent. The creative directors paired that natural rose note with suede leather and Cuban tobacco, then layered patchouli and amber underneath for weight. A limited run meant for the people who knew to look.
What makes this composition worth the limited run is the pairing of two roses in the heart. Turkish rose brings one dimension. Bulgarian rose brings another. Together they create a layered floral statement, each maintaining its own character while sharing the same space. Then Cuban tobacco and leather enter from underneath, not as base notes but as supporting architecture. The patchouli is there but behaves, doing its earthy grounding work without dominating. Oakmoss pulls a chypre thread through a composition that could have gone purely floral or purely oriental.
The evolution
The first spray announces itself with lime and a quick rasp of violet leaf, bright and slightly bitter. That opening phase gives way to the two roses arriving together, dense and immediate, neither polite about it. The suede and Cuban tobacco settle in beneath the floral heart, not replacing the roses but wrapping them, creating a warm architectural frame that holds the florals aloft. By the later stages of wear the patchouli and amber have merged with what remains of the rose, and the whole composition reads warmer, darker, almost like a memory of itself. White musk and Madagascar vanilla carry the final stretch, lending a subtle sweetness that wasn't there at the start. The progression moves from green-bright to floral-dense to warm-dark to softly sweet, each phase handing off to the next without losing the thread.
Cultural impact
Une Rose Pakistani carries a distinctive cultural weight rooted in the rose-growing heritage of the Pakistani region. Rose cultivation across South Asia has long supplied rose otto and rose absolute as prized materials, used in perfumery across the subcontinent and beyond. The fragrance draws on that lineage, spotlighting a rose accord shaped by that tradition rather than a generic red rose reading. The accord sits within a contemporary composition built around suede leather, Cuban tobacco, patchouli, and amber, bridging regional raw material heritage with a structure that speaks to a global audience of fragrance collectors.
