The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ring of Moods arrived in 2025 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line, a release that the house has noted smells similar to Mood Ring by Phlur according to user commentary. That source scent became a recognizable tropical-fruity composition for its candy-sweet opening and white floral heart, and Ring of Moods takes that same territory and gives it a louder floral register and a warmer, amber-musky finish. The opening keeps the playful sugar quality intact: gummy candy, dragon fruit, and a slice of orange that lifts the sweetness so it never feels like syrup. The heart pushes jasmine and orange blossom forward, and the base leans into musk, amber, and patchouli to do the heavy lifting in the hours most people actually wear fragrance.
What makes this composition worth a second look is how the three layers of sweetness actually cooperate. Gummy candies and dragon fruit in the opening could easily collapse into something one-note, but the orange cuts in with a citric sharpness that keeps the sugar from going syrupy. The heart doubles down on white florals through jasmine sambac and orange blossom, with marigold adding a slightly green, almost herbaceous edge that gives the floral stage its own personality instead of just echoing the candy on top.
The evolution
The first 30 minutes are a sugar rush. Gummy candy sweetness and that almost neon pink of dragon fruit hit right at the surface, with orange brightening the edges so it reads more like fruit snacks than frosting. Then the jasmine sambac and orange blossom arrive, and the whole thing softens. Marigold sneaks in with a thread of green that cuts the sweetness like a sprig of something fresh in a dessert. By the second hour the candy is mostly gone, replaced by a creamy white-floral warmth that sits close to the skin and feels almost lotion-like in its softness. The musk and amber take over the back half, and the patchouli shows up just enough to give the base a faint earthy hum.
Cultural impact
Within The Dua Brand's catalog, Ring of Moods fits into the Inspired Expression line, a grouping that sits alongside other themed collections the house offers. It is a composition that wears like an easy crowd-pleaser without being generic, the kind of scent that fits naturally into a summer routine and reads well to anyone standing close. The combination of a candy-fruit opening, a confident white floral heart, and a warm amber-musky base gives it range: it can handle a warm afternoon outdoors and still feel appropriate as the temperature drops into evening.
