The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fantasy Town arrived in 2026 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, and the name does exactly what it promises. Perfumer Mahsam Raza built a composition around whimsy, the kind of scent that smells like a Saturday afternoon when you had nowhere to be. Raza composed it as a fruity floral gourmand, a category shorthand for sweet without the sticky residue. The opening pulls you in with bergamot and petitgrain layered over red fruits, a bright citrus tilt that reads playful rather than serious. There's a confectionery warmth waiting underneath, but Raza structures the entry so the first impression stays light, almost fizzy, before the heart notes start to unfold. It wears like a treat you didn't feel guilty about, the kind of sweetness that knows when to pull back.
What carries Fantasy Town through its wear is how the notes talk to each other. The petitgrain does heavy lifting in the opening, threading a bitter-green edge through the red fruits so the sweetness reads bright rather than cloying. Orange blossom absolute and rose absolute in the heart keep the florals grounded, lending a powdery lift at exactly the moment the caramel starts to drag. The ambrette seed in the base brings a musky, almost pear-skin warmth that grounds the marshmallow softness and keeps the vanilla from wearing like body spray.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are a citrus tilt, bergamot and petitgrain bright against the red fruits, almost tart. Then the cinnamon arrives and the whole thing pivots warm, while orange blossom and rose bloom underneath like confectioner's sugar dusting a hot pastry. By the two-hour mark the caramel and Bourbon vanilla take over, the florals retreating into a soft halo rather than disappearing entirely. The drydown is where abelmoschus earns its place, a warm, musky, slightly vegetal hum that keeps the sweetness from going flat. You can still catch the spice at the four-hour point, softened into the caramel, and the vanilla deepens into something almost resinous as the hours pass. The musk lingers longest, a skin-warmed trace that stays close without announcing itself.
Cultural impact
Fantasy Town wears its influences openly, and anyone familiar with the powdery cinnamon-vanilla register will recognize the family resemblance. The composition takes that template and pushes it further into confection territory, swapping restraint for indulgence where it counts. The orange blossom and rose absolute give the opening a soft, soapy halo that keeps the sweetness from feeling one-note, and the caramel and Bourbon vanilla in the base lean fully into dessert territory without tipping into sticky. What makes Fantasy Town register isn't novelty but fluency in a category that rewards comfort and recognizability.
