The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Benjamin Sachs designed Tuberotic for the wearer who finds typical tuberose too lush, too indolic, too much of a given thing. Released by Superfumista, this composition takes the most opulent white floral in perfumery and gives it an unexpected green backbone. The result is a fragrance that commands attention without apology. Tuberotic offers a bold alternative to the overwrought sweetness that often defines the tuberose category, presenting instead a version that feels both assertive and refined.
The pairing of tuberose with black tea and jasmine is unusual enough to catch attention. Black tea brings an aromatic, slightly bitter quality that cools the composition rather than warming it. Jasmine adds complexity without softening the edge. The real structural work, though, happens in the top: angelica doesn't just introduce the fragrance, it sets the tone. Its vegetable-like, slightly medicinal quality gives the tuberose something to push against. Without that counterweight, this would be another creamy white floral. With it, there's tension. There's a reason to smell it twice.
The evolution
The opening hits sharp. Angelica arrives first, green, herbaceous, almost vegetable-like, before bergamot cuts in with its citrus brightness. Neroli floats underneath, keeping things cool and floral. The first phase is assertive, moving beyond expectations of immediate tuberose sweetness. Then the florals take over. Tuberose emerges as the dominant heart, creamy and rich, while black tea adds a slightly bitter aromatic quality that keeps the lushness in check. Jasmine rounds out the middle without overpowering. As the composition transitions, the drydown begins its gentle arrival: musk, cedarwood, vanilla. Warm, woody, powdery notes settle close to the skin. The fragrance maintains its presence through the heart phase before gradually revealing its intimate final act.
Cultural impact
The 2024 launch of Tuberotic presents a cooler, more aromatic interpretation of the tuberose theme. Rather than the expected lush tropical sweetness, this fragrance takes a different path, introducing unexpected green and herbaceous qualities that set it apart. Its projection and lasting presence have made it a notable entry in the ready-to-wear collection from a house known for its personalized fragrance service.
