The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Julien Plos built Cherry Passion around a single question: what happens when cherry isn't the garnish but the main event? The answer is this fragrance, bold, fruity, and unapologetically itself. Sly John's Lab launched in 2022 with a philosophy of singular olfactory ideas, and Cherry Passion is that philosophy made real. Plos started with the fruit, built outward from there, and let the other notes serve the vision rather than compete with it.
The main accords tell you everything: sweet, fruity, cherry, vanilla, almond, nutty, amber. Cherry Passion leans into warmth from the first spray. The almond and cherry open with an almost confectionery immediacy, sweet, rounded, inviting. Then the florals arrive: jasmine, rose, and tuberose working as structural support for the sweetness rather than competing with it. The base is where it earns its keep, sandalwood, tonka bean, and vanilla create a warm, skin-close presence that extends the experience without projecting.
The evolution
Cherry Passion opens bright and distinct. The almond and cherry arrive together, the strawberry adding a tart edge that keeps the sweetness from going flat. This phase lasts roughly 30 minutes before the florals take over. Jasmine, rose, and tuberose arrive like a white dress on a warm night, heady, creamy, slightly indolic. The sweetness from the opening doesn't disappear but deepens, settling into something that feels less like fruit and more like a memory of it. Sandalwood, tonka bean, and vanilla arrive late and stay longest. The fruit is gone by now, replaced by a warm, skin-close presence that doesn't project but lingers. Four to five hours on skin, intimate without trying.
Cultural impact
Cherry Passion occupies a comfortable middle ground, sweet enough to attract, distinctive enough to remember. The 2022 launch places it in the wave of modern niche fragrances that prioritize character over convention. It's an accessible entry point for those curious about niche perfumery, and a reliable option for those who already know what they want.
