The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Skylar founded in 2017 in Los Angeles, creating vegan, hypoallergenic fragrances that capture bright California moments with clean chemistry. Forbidden Fruit emerged from Skylar's February 2026 Scent Club drop, aiming to capture the thrill of a forbidden bite. The perfumers turned to the juicy pop of lychee, the soft chew of sakura-mochi and the fresh whisper of dewy violet to craft a candy-sweet portrait that feels both playful and addictive.
The perfumers chose Lychee for its bright, almost electric sweetness native to Skylar's California tone, Mochi for its soft, edible texture that sets this apart from standard fruit fragrances, and Raspberry to add a tart counterpoint. In the heart, Violet adds softness, Sugar Cane bridges the bright opening to the warm drydown and Rose Petals lend romantic depth. Amber and Woody Notes in the base provide structure so the sweetness never overwhelms, with Vanilla adding a clean creaminess that keeps wearers wanting more.
The evolution
As the top notes fade, Violet moves forward alongside Sugar Cane and Rose Petals, replacing the playful brightness with something more Intimate. This floral middle layer feels dewy and feminine, lingering close to the skin while the Raspberry keeps a trace of its tartness alive. Eventually Amber, Woody Notes and Vanilla take over, converting the experience into something warm and cozy. The journey moves from joyful curiosity through tender softness to quiet warmth.
Cultural impact
Since its 2026 debut, Forbidden Fruit has become a favorite among fragrance‑savvy teens and young adults seeking a playful, clean scent. Its limited‑edition status and vegan certification spark buzz on social platforms, while wearers praise its bright candy energy and note its moderate sillage as perfect for close‑quarter gatherings.
