Why it exists.
The beginning
Deep Førest arrived in 2026 as part of Skandinavisk's Køllektion, the brand's perfume series that translates Nordic landscapes into wearable form. The brief is printed on the box in plain language: a meditative walk beneath the pine canopy, where the air tastes of resin and rain. Perfumer Véronique Nyberg took that brief and built a green-woody composition around the idea of forest and pine, the scent of standing under tall conifers and breathing in the stillness. Deep Førest continues that thread without ornamentation. No citrus sparkle to make it pretty, no sweetness to make it easy. Just the woods, rendered in a formulation that is vegan and uncomplicated in the way the brand's Scandinavian design principles demand.
What makes Deep Førest unusual isn't any single note but the sheer density of coniferous material packed into one composition. Pine, pine needles, cedar, cedarwood, spruce, cypress, balsam fir, juniper, and eucalyptus stack across the top and heart, building a green canopy that rarely thins out. Most woody fragrances anchor with one or two trees; this one builds an entire forest. The result is a composition that reads less like a perfume and more like an environment, one where the boundaries between individual trees blur into a unified impression of coniferous density.
The evolution
The opening belongs to the canopy. Pine and spruce arrive at full volume, green and sharp, the way coniferous sap smells when a branch snaps in cold air. Cypress and eucalyptus thread through with a cool, almost camphorated edge, the air accord lifting the whole composition above ground level. For a long stretch, it reads as a single sustained chord, more forest room than forest floor. Eventually, the cedars deepen. What opened as bright and resinous shifts toward wood grain, warmer, drier, more textured. Balsam fir and juniper stay present but stop competing for the foreground, settling into a supporting role beneath the cedarwood and vetiver root. The pink pepper begins to assert itself in the later phases, a faint, almost dusty warmth that complements the dry woodiness without ever taking over the composition. As the hours pass, the green recedes almost entirely.
Cultural impact
Deep Førest sits at the quiet end of the woody-green spectrum, the one that doesn't shout about being outdoorsy. It appeals to wearers who want a fragrance that reads as an environment rather than an accessory, a composition that evokes forest density without resorting to aromachemical shortcuts. The scent stays cool and meditative throughout its wear, never crossing into the bright-aromatic mainstream that dominates much of contemporary woody perfumery. Where many green fragrances rely on sharp citrus or herbal brightness to signal freshness, Deep Førest stays dense, resinous, and cool.
