The beginning
KØPENHAGEN takes its name from the obvious thing. The city itself. Skandinavisk has called Copenhagen home for some time, and this 2026 release is their Eau de Parfum built around the urban landscape. Perfumer Véronique Nyberg shaped the composition around a very specific Copenhagen sensation: climbing white roses softening the mineral chill of stone and harbor air. The brand describes it as the city they've called home for more than a decade, bottled. Part of the new KØLLEKTION line, KØPENHAGEN captures a different register for the brand, one rooted in cobblestones and harbor wind rather than wilder terrain. The white rose threads through the cold mineral notes with a quiet persistence, never blooming fully into sweetness but instead acting as a softening filter over the harder edges.
What makes KØPENHAGEN unusual is the collision of materials. Stone, aluminum, steel. These sit alongside floral and wood elements in a way that creates genuine tension on skin. The combination could easily tilt into something sterile or harshly industrial, but the white rose and moss pull the composition back toward something organic and lived-in. The charred wood and guaiac anchor the lower notes so the stone never reads as clinical or detached. The cold air accord makes the whole thing feel like exhaling on a February morning, visible breath in freezing temperatures.
The evolution
The opening is the most surprising phase. Stone, aluminum, and that cold air accord hit immediately, and for a moment it smells less like perfume and more like pressing your hand against a harbor wall in winter. There's a mineral sharpness that registers almost physically, as if you've just touched something freezing. The white rose emerges gradually, but it never warms the composition. It just softens the geometry, rounding the hard edges without raising the temperature. Cedarwood and cypress rise next, joined by a mossy, slightly damp quality that reads as Nordic forest encroaching on the city. The charred wood and guaiac wood settle in during the later stages and carry the drydown with their smoky, resinous weight. The musk underneath keeps everything skin-close rather than projecting outward, creating an intimate sillage that stays close to the wearer.
