The interesting choice here is restraint. Jacquin composes with materials that carry Orpur® designations, and yet the final reading stays composed and airy. The jasmine and ylang-ylang could easily tip this into a tropical floral, rich and sun-drenched. Instead, the patchouli keeps things grounded with its slightly earthy, woody character, and the vanilla stays powdered rather than gourmand, never veering into pastry territory. The geranium cuts through with its sharp green-rosy quality, sharp and herbal at once, tying the citrus top to the warmer base.

The evolution

The first ten minutes are the show. Italian bergamot and lime crack open bright and sharp, with mandarin sweetness curling underneath, that characteristic rounded citrus note softening the sharper edges of the lime. Within fifteen minutes, jasmine and Egyptian geranium move in, and the scent turns greener, cooler. There's a fleeting moment where it reads slightly aquatic, a clean mineral quality that feels almost rain-washed. By the ninety-minute mark, everything softens. The ylang-ylang appears as a faint creamy sweetness, the patchouli adds warmth and a touch of earth, and the vanilla rounds the edges with its smooth, pale presence. The progression follows a clear arc from sharp citrus through green floral to a warm, woody-creamy close, each stage building on what came before while the earlier notes gradually recede.
