Florentine Iris Pallida is one of the most precious materials in perfumery, costly, time-intensive, and unforgiving. When it works, it works like nothing else. The combination here with Siam benzoin, tonka bean from Venezuela, and Madagascar vanilla creates a powdery warmth that doesn't announce itself. The Tunisian neroli and orange blossom absolute open clean and bright, but the heart of this composition is the iris itself, cold, mineral, almost root-like in its precision. This is what happens when a perfumer builds around an ingredient instead of dressing it up.

The evolution

The neroli and orange blossom open clean, Mediterranean brightness, the kind that reads as almost clinical at first. Then the iris arrives. Not the sweet violet powder of cheaper iris interpretations. This is the cold, mineral iris Pallida from Florence, and it shifts the temperature immediately. The heart deepens with mastic and lentisque, a subtle resinous quality that keeps the florals grounded. By the time the benzoin and vanilla arrive, the composition has already done its work. The drydown is warm without being heavy, sweet without being sugary. The tonka bean and white musk keep it close, skin-warm, intimate, present for hours. On fabric, it can last days. The projection is moderate, but the longevity is exceptional, eight to ten hours on most skin types, quiet and persistent into the next morning if you wore it to sleep.
