The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Skyline Pacific landed in 2014 from Parfums Genty. The name suggests a view, a horizon stretching west over the Pacific, and the composition follows that thread: bright fruit at the surface, open air through the middle, and something anchored and woody holding it all down. Classified as an aromatic spicy for men, it aims to capture the moment when a coastal city catches afternoon light and everything feels slightly unreal. The pineapple and wild strawberry top notes land before the heat does, sharp and almost fizzy, the way fruit smells when it is still cold from the market and the sun has not yet warmed it. The opening carries that raw, just-cut quality, the fruit reading less like dessert and more like something fresh from a crate, still holding its chill.
What makes this composition interesting is the contrast at the top, wild strawberry and pineapple sitting alongside aquatic and melon notes, an unusual pairing that gives the opening its particular tension. Here the sweetness is tempered by artemisia in the heart, a bitter herbal note that pulls the opening back from anything too sugary, and orange blossom adds a soapy brightness that keeps the whole thing from collapsing into fruit salad.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are loud: wild strawberry and pineapple burst forward with the melon underneath, almost like a chilled fruit cup opened in direct sun. The aquatic note adds a saline edge, making everything feel rinsed and bright. By the twenty-minute mark, the fruit begins to recede and artemisia takes over, introducing a dry, slightly bitter herbal quality that smells like crushed stems and warm grass. Orange blossom threads through quietly, giving the heart a clean, almost soapy lift. Around the two-hour mark the base starts to assert itself. Tonka bean brings a soft almond sweetness, guaiac wood adds a smoky depth, cedar gives it structure, and amber warms everything from underneath. By hour four, the fruit is a memory, the herbs have faded, and what remains is a smooth woody-amber close with just enough sweetness to stay interesting.
Cultural impact
Skyline Pacific reads as a fragrance with a strong point of view. The strawberry-pineapple opening is immediately recognizable and divisive, the kind of combination that either pulls you in or pushes you away within the first few minutes. It carries enough warmth underneath the bright top to feel considered, the base notes doing quiet work to anchor the composition and prevent it from reading as purely fresh. As a daytime warm-weather scent, it projects a particular kind of energy, closer to a personal statement than a crowd-pleaser. The composition rewards attention, revealing more of its structure the longer it sits on skin.
