The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
MMXXIV. The Roman numerals for 2024. But this Pantheon Roma release arrived in 2025, wearing the previous year as a kind of deliberate timestamp. Why the lag? Perhaps some dates deserve a proper aging before they're released into the world. The fragrance serves as a statement piece for the Exclusive Collection, available only at the Pantheon VIP Lounge. The brief, if there was one, seems to have been simple: create something that carries weight and intention.
The structure tells you everything. Three top notes that announce themselves without apology: whiskey for warmth, saffron for depth, cinnamon for the kind of bite that makes you lean in instead of pull back. Then the heart shifts the register. Immortelle and calendula are bitter herbs, almost medicinal in their honesty. Dates sweeten the middle ground, adding depth without softening the composition. Black pepper arrives as a reminder that this composition isn't interested in being liked. The base is where Pantheon Roma does its finest work.
The evolution
The whiskey doesn't wait. Right from the start, it hits with a warmth that borders on medicinal before the saffron softens it into something golden. Cinnamon adds a sharp, spicy edge that cuts through the sweetness. Then immortelle arrives, bringing its bitter, herbal character alongside calendula. The dates appear subtly, sweetening the middle without making it girlish. The black pepper adds an aromatic kick that keeps everything grounded. The transition to the base is gradual but inevitable. Oud and patchouli begin asserting themselves, their dark intensity slowly replacing the herbal heart. Vetiver adds an earthy, smoky quality while sandalwood provides a creamy counterpoint. The drydown is where MMXXIV earns its name. Hours in, it's still projecting strongly. The final hours smell like sandalwood and vetiver, the oud fading to a whisper.
Cultural impact
MMXXIV fits the Pantheon Roma philosophy: it's not trying to be everything to everyone. The whiskey-forward opening and dense woody base appeal to those who appreciate fragrances with real presence. Available exclusively at the VIP Lounge, the scent embodies what the house does best, concentrated, intentional compositions that don't shy away from commitment.
