Why it exists.
The beginning
Oriflame's perfumer Philippine Courtière designed Venture Beyond in 2016 with a specific creative brief in mind. The fragrance needed to communicate its character through conversation rather than display, making someone turn to their friend and ask what they were wearing. Mandarin and tangerine provide an immediate burst of bright, zesty energy at the top, their sharp citrus quality cutting through without feeling thin. The scent settles into a warm amber core that feels honeyed and resinous, creating a satisfying depth that invites you to lean closer. Oak and animalic notes anchor the base, lending the composition a sense of weight and presence that lingers close to the skin.
The composition threads together contrasting elements: crisp citrus freshness alongside warm, earthy depth. These notes don't simply exist in isolation but influence each other throughout the wear. The evolution
Mandarin and tangerine arrive first, bright and immediate. The peel reads sharp, almost astringent. Amber creeps in next, honeyed and resinous, as the citrus begins to recede. Oak appears, giving the composition weight and a woody foundation. The animalic surfaces last, faint and warm, like skin in late afternoon sun. As the fragrance develops, only amber and oak remain, woody and close.
