A house, in its own words
Born in Istanbul in 2012, Nishane is the creative vision of co-founders Mert Güzel and Murat Katran. They weren't perfumers by trade; instead, they were passionate storytellers who saw a gap in the market for a luxury fragrance brand that could represent their city's cosmopolitan soul. Istanbul has always been a bridge between East and West, and they wanted to capture that spirit in a bottle. They felt that while Paris had its iconic houses, Istanbul deserved its own global olfactory ambassador. Their international launch at the Esxence fair in Milan in 2015 was a statement of intent. They arrived not with one or two scents, but with a full collection that immediately captured the attention of the niche community. From that point, Nishane's growth has been remarkable. They've built a reputation for creating powerful, long-lasting extraits that aren't afraid to make a statement, quickly becoming a must-have brand for fragrance aficionados around the world.
Nishane operates on the principle that perfume is an art form meant to tell stories and evoke deep emotions. The brand's name itself, which means 'mark' or 'symbol' in Turkish, points to their ambition: to create scents that leave a lasting impression on the wearer and those around them. They draw endless inspiration from their own culture, from the poetry of Rumi to the ancient traditions of Anatolian hospitality. Their creative direction is guided by a 'rooted in tradition, with a vision of the modern' ethos.
