The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Portuguese name translates to Drawing on the Clouds, and that image does the heavy lifting before any note list arrives. This is Natura's interpretation of a sky-bound moment: floral, herbal, suspended, weightless. Verônica Kato composed it in 2020 as part of the Naturé collection. The floral top notes register immediately, bright and almost translucent, giving the composition its airborne quality. They don't anchor to any one bloom, which keeps the opening reading as atmosphere rather than as a specific garden. The herbal heart follows with that cut-stem coolness, a clean bitterness that prevents the florals from tipping into sweetness. And the musk underneath rounds everything out, warm and skin-close, providing the gravity that holds the airy elements in place.
What's interesting is what Kato left out. The pyramid is famously sparse: floral notes up top, herbal notes at the heart, musk underneath. That's it. Three categories, no showboating. Each layer carries just enough information to suggest a mood without pinning it down. The musk accord does substantial work in the base, lending an animalic warmth that shifts depending on who wears it. The powdery quality comes through in the same register, a softness that settles into the drydown and stays there.
The evolution
The opening reads bright and dewy. Floral notes lift off the skin with a green, almost crushed-leaf quality that catches you before you expect it. Not sweet, not soapy, more like the moment after walking past a garden wall in late afternoon. The florals stay close to the surface, abstract and lightly textured, sketching a presence rather than naming one. Then the herbal layer asserts itself, bringing a cut-grass coolness, a clean bitterness that grounds the airy opening without weighing anything down. As the composition wears on, the musk arrives gradually from underneath, warming things from the base. It doesn't roar in. It seeps. Eventually the scent settles into something close and intimate: skin-warm, slightly powdery, with a faintly animalic quality that reads more human than feral. The green note lingers longest, that crushed-leaf impression refusing to fully dissolve.
Cultural impact
Desenho nas Nuvens earns its place through restraint. In a catalog full of bolder statements, this one whispers. The Portuguese title itself, Drawing on the Clouds, becomes a kind of cultural signal: anyone who recognizes the phrase knows exactly the register being offered, a scent that exists in the space between weather and memory. That kind of quiet signaling matters in a market where louder compositions tend to dominate shelf presence and attention spans. The Naturé collection, where this fragrance sits, reads as Natura's gesture toward atmospheric perfumery, compositions that prioritize mood over statement.
