The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ramón Monegal Maso created Yacht Man Energy for Myrurgia in 2007, joining the Barcelona house's century-long tradition of material-driven perfumery. Myrurgia, founded in 1916 and now part of the Puig portfolio, has consistently favored understated elegance over theatrical gestures, and this fragrance embodies that philosophy perfectly. The name suggests maritime escapism, yet the execution remains grounded in restraint rather than tropical fantasy.
The note selection reflects a deliberate philosophy: lavender provides aromatic structure, mint adds cooling freshness, and vanilla softens the transition. The heart balances herbaceous basil against floral iris and lily of the valley, while the base of cedarwood, leather, and musk creates a warm, woody foundation that rewards patience. Each layer serves a purpose, avoiding unnecessary ornamentation.
The evolution
The opening of lavender and mint establishes an aromatic freshness that feels nautical without veering into sunscreen territory. As the heart develops, basil introduces an herbal greenness that grounds the composition, while iris adds powdery refinement. The drydown reveals cedarwood's dry woody character, complemented by leather's subtle warmth and musk's skin-close embrace, creating a complete arc from cool freshness to warm intimacy.
Cultural impact
Since its 2007 debut, Yacht Man Energy has quietly earned a place among aromatic fougère enthusiasts, often cited as a modern take on classic marine masculinity. Wearers appreciate its fresh‑green opening paired with a leather‑tinged drydown, positioning it as a versatile choice for both casual weekends and smart‑casual office days, without the flash of trend‑driven releases.
