The beginning
Funny! landed in 2007 from a house that treats fragrance as comedy, not religion. This one was different in approach for the brand: no visual stunt, no novelty container. Just a juice that wore its name honestly. The perfumer composed it as a straightforward floral-fruity with a wink. The brief, if you read the name as the brief, was simple. Make something that doesn't pretend to be deeper than it is. And from what reaches the nose, that's exactly what the juice does. There's a certain confidence in launching a perfume called Funny! and then letting the scent itself carry the joke without any packaging gimmick to distract from it. The composition leans into that idea, offering a fragrance that knows exactly what it wants to be: bright, accessible, and a little self-aware.
The perfumer's signature shows up in how the bright top is allowed to breathe before any floral sweetness rushes in. Orange and currant arrive with their own distinct character rather than melting into a generic fruit blur, and the pink pepper adds a small, dry sparkle instead of actual heat. In the heart, green tea acts as a cooling structural element, holding peony and jasmine apart so neither goes candied. Violet threads underneath, doing what violet does: pulling the composition toward something slightly powdery without ever tipping into makeup territory.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to orange, bright and slightly sharp, almost like the zest was just snapped off the rind. Currant softens it within minutes, adding a tart-fruit sweetness that keeps the citrus from feeling like dish soap. The pink pepper has warmed into a low static charge beneath everything else, and the green tea starts pulling the whole composition into a cooler register. The heart phase is where Funny! lives most of its life: peony and jasmine float over the tea, airy and slightly green, with violet adding that faint cosmetic sweetness without pushing into lipstick territory. The cedar and musk in the base are quiet, functional, almost invisible. They keep the florals from dissolving rather than announcing themselves. Over time, the citrus gradually recedes. What remains is a soft, clean musk-cedar skin scent with traces of jasmine still clinging to fabric.

Funny! sits comfortably in the late-2000s floral-fruity mainstream, a category known for citrus-bright compositions and accessible white-floral hearts. It embodies the lighter, more playful end of that style, with a name that does half the work in setting expectations before the bottle is even opened. The fragrance doesn't try to position itself against anything; it simply offers a straightforward, easy-to-wear take on a familiar structure.
