The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Morgan positioned Love de Toi as a fragrance for the way young French women actually wore fashion in 2004, playfully, confidently, without waiting for permission. Dorothée Piot built it around a doubled apple structure that makes the scent feel effervescent and lifted, not heavy. Raspberry and green apple burst upfront, red apple anchors the heart, and cherry circles back in the base, the composition keeps returning to fruit rather than abandoning it for woods or musks. White florals arrive generously: gardenia and tiare bring tropical warmth, jasmine and lily of the valley fill the spaces between. Cherry, musk, and sandalwood form the warm, intimate base. The result is cheerful and sensual, a fragrance designed to make daily life feel a little more like an occasion, not a commitment.
The doubled apple is the structural surprise here. Most fragrances move from bright opening to deep base, Love de Toi circles back. Red apple in the heart reinforces the green apple from the top rather than transforming it, keeping the composition cohesive and effervescent throughout. The white florals arrive early and stay: gardenia, tiare, jasmine, lily of the valley layer together into something lush and tropical, with rose adding a classic counterpoint so the sweetness never becomes syrupy. Cherry bridges the florals and base, arriving as the florals begin to settle, so the transition never feels like a cliff.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately: raspberry and green apple burst bright, almost tart, with mandarin orange and pink pepper adding a subtle lift that keeps things from feeling sweet-only. The green apple hangs around longer than expected, it doesn't disappear after the first spray. Red apple arrives in the heart and doubles down on the apple note rather than transforming it, which gives the fragrance an effervescent, lifted quality. Gardenia and tiare arrive lush and unapologetic, jasmine and lily of the valley filling the spaces, rose adding a classic floral counterpoint. Cherry arrives as the florals begin to settle, keeping things tart-sweet. Musk takes over as the dominant force, sandalwood providing a creamy, soft woodiness that rounds everything out. This is what lingers, warm, intimate, close to the skin. On fabric, the florals fade faster and the woody base clings for hours.
Cultural impact
Love de Toi belongs to that early-2000s French fashion moment, cheerful, accessible, designed for daily wear rather than special occasions. Community feedback describes it as versatile across seasons, office-appropriate, and a fruit-floral balance that feels fresh without being overpowering. The doubled apple structure is the compositional choice that sets it apart from simpler fruity florals.
