    Dorothée Piot

Dorothée Piot grew up in a kitchen garden where curiosity for scent first sparked. She earned her diploma from ISIPCA in 1983 and entered Dragoco, a German aroma house, the same year. Under master perfumer Raymond Chaillan she spent fourteen years mastering raw materials, formulation techniques, and the discipline of chypre architecture. In the late 1990s she joined Robertet, expanding her palette to include luxury houses such as Lalique, Olfactive Studio, and Amouage. Her first widely recognized work, Pivoine Flora, captured the fresh elegance of peony and earned critical praise across Europe. Subsequent creations like Limoncello Season and Exquise Tentation reinforced her reputation for marrying bright citrus with deep, resonant bases. Today she balances studio commissions with teaching, sharing her love of scent with students of every level.

    The signature

    How Dorothée composes

Dorothée favors chypre frameworks, pairing bright citrus top notes with mossy or woody hearts and a grounding base of amber or patchouli. She frequently incorporates green accords—fresh cut grass, crushed leaves—to add vitality. Peony, jasmine, and other florals appear in her work as luminous accents rather than dominant themes. She prefers natural absolutes, extracting maximum nuance from raw materials before blending with synthetics that reinforce structure. Her compositions often reveal a crisp opening that evolves into a warm, lingering finish, inviting the wearer to linger.

    Philosophy

    What drives Dorothée

Dorothée treats fragrance as a dialogue between nature and memory. She believes a scent must anchor the wearer in a tangible moment while inviting subtle discovery. Her process begins with a single natural note that evokes a personal story; she then builds layers that respect the original character. She values human connection, often testing ideas with friends and colleagues to gauge emotional impact. For her, the most rewarding outcome is a perfume that feels both intimate and universally relatable, a scent that people recognize instantly as a piece of their own narrative.
