The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Into the Jungle arrived in 2020 from Marion Costero at Givaudan, part of Mandarina Duck's Duckers collection. The name suggests expedition, but this isn't a scent about jungle beats or tropical excess. It's a citrus-and-herb composition that takes its botanical references seriously, Provençal lavender, North African rosemary, Brazilian green mandarin alongside Italian lemon. The perfumer built something that feels sunlit and grounded at the same time, a walking-through-the-countryside energy rather than a poolside escape. The Duckers collection has always leaned into escapism with a practical edge, and this one delivers the fantasy without the drama.
What makes the structure interesting is the tension between the green-citrus opening and the powdery florals that follow. Rhubarb as a top note is uncommon, it brings a tart, almost vegetable sharpness that lifts the lemon and mandarin above the typical fresh fragrance template. Then the cherry blossom and gardenia arrive to smooth everything into something softer, while the Haitian vetiver and oakmoss in the base keep the whole composition from floating away. The result is a fragrance that starts bright and ends grounded, with a middle phase that feels almost powdery.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, lemon, mandarin, rhubarb, and rosemary arriving almost simultaneously in a bright, acidic rush. That green mandarin is the star here, giving the citrus a slightly bitter edge that keeps it from smelling generic. Within twenty minutes, the florals begin to assert themselves. Cherry blossom and gardenia push the composition toward a soft, powdery territory that might surprise anyone expecting the jungle theme to stay green. The rose and violet add a quiet sweetness that doesn't shout. By hour two, the base notes take over. Vetiver and oakmoss arrive together, earthy and dry, pulling the fragrance back down to earth. The amber and musk settle close to the skin, this is not a projection monster. The sillage stays moderate throughout, an intimate scent that someone standing next to you will notice before a stranger across the room. On fabric, expect the full 5-6 hours. On skin, it may fade closer to four, especially in warmer conditions.
Cultural impact
Into the Jungle sits in a crowded space of fresh-citrus fragrances but carves its own territory with the herb-forward lavender-rosemary combination and the powdery floral heart. It's accessible enough for daily wear but distinctive enough to avoid blending into the background. The Duckers collection targets the curious wearer who wants something with personality without being difficult, a crowd-pleaser with edge.
