The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lattafa creates world-class perfumes at prices that do not require a second mortgage. The brand offers a collection of fragrances that blend traditional Middle Eastern aromatic heritage with contemporary accessibility. Ra'ed Luxe launched in 2019 as the premium expression within Lattafa's Ra'ed series, a collection known for aromatic, accessible compositions. While the original Ra'ed delivered bold, spicy character built around saffron and oud, Ra'ed Luxe reimagines the collection with a luminous, aromatic profile that blends bright fruit, fresh herbs, and warm sweet woods into something entirely its own.
The combination of watermelon and strawberry creates an unexpected harmony: bright juiciness paired with sweet warmth. Jasmine in the opening adds a layer of floral elegance that elevates the composition beyond typical masculine fruity fragrances. Lavender and sage in the heart provide clean aromatic balance, ensuring the sweetness remains sophisticated rather than juvenile. Vanilla, tonka, amber, and vetiver form a base that ensures Ra'ed Luxe works for casual daytime wear and polished evening occasions alike, a versatility that justifies the Luxe designation in the name.
The evolution
The opening hits hard with watermelon and pineapple, delivering a burst of cold, sliced fruit that catches attention instantly. Watermelon is unusual in masculine fragrances, which more typically open dark and spicy, so this bright juiciness feels like a deliberate subversion. Jasmine brings a soft floral element that adds unexpected elegance to the top notes, preventing the fruit from feeling too casual. The heart introduces lavender and sage with clean, herbaceous energy, creating an aromatic garden quality that feels more polished than typical masculine aromatics. Cinnamon provides a subtle warmth underneath, keeping the heart grounded rather than airy. The drydown turns cool with ice and strawberry, creating a crisp, refreshing late stage that then warms into vanilla, tonka, and amber sweetness. Vetiver and sandalwood anchor the composition, ensuring the sweetness does not dominate, while chestnut and musk add a soft, intimate finish that carries through the evening.
Cultural impact
Ra'ed Luxe represents a bold approach to fragrance design from a Middle Eastern house. The use of watermelon as a lead note sets it apart from conventional Western-friendly designer fragrances, introducing an unexpected freshness that feels both modern and rooted in regional traditions. The fragrance offers something distinct: a fresh, juicy opening that brings genuine surprise to those accustomed to more predictable citrus or aquatic openings. Its presence in fragrance communities has contributed to growing appreciation for the creative possibilities within Gulf-region perfumery.
