The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Capim-Limão Alfazema takes its name from two Brazilian botanicals, capim-limão (lemongrass) and alfazema (lavender), and centers them in the composition. The 2020 release opens with Sicilian lemon and bergamot, setting an immediate citrus brightness before the herbal heart arrives. Damask rose threads through the lemongrass and lavender, adding softness. Musk and vanilla form the base, pulling the whole composition close to the skin. Capim-Limão and alfazema are the point, they're not background players here, they're what drives the fragrance.
Capim-Limão and alfazema make an unusual pairing. Capim-limão is tropical, sharp, almost citrusy in its own right. Alfazema is camphoraceous, instantly recognizable. Capim-Limão Alfazema places them together as the heart of the composition, letting two aromatic herbs carry a fragrance. Damask rose sits underneath, offering a soft floral counterweight that most wearers won't consciously identify but will feel as warmth. Vanilla in the base adds warmth that makes the lemongrass accessible.
The evolution
The opening is bright citrus. Bergamot and Sicilian lemon arrive together, setting an immediate impression. The lemongrass begins to pull the composition away from pure brightness, shifting toward herbal territory. The lavender follows, not quite at full strength but present, adding that camphoraceous edge that makes the heart read as botanical rather than sweet. The rose sits quietly underneath, offering a soft floral counterweight that most wearers won't consciously identify but will feel as warmth. As time passes, musk and vanilla move into the foreground. The citrus fades. The herbs remain part of the composition. What remains is warm and skin-close, the kind of drydown that lingers.
Cultural impact
Capim-Limão Alfazema occupies a space in the citrus-aromatic category. The lemongrass-lavender pairing is the fragrance's defining feature. Wearers describe it as the kind of scent that works without asking for attention. Spring and summer carry the majority of the attention, which makes sense given the bright opening and herbal heart. The fragrance suits someone who wants Brazilian botanicals without committing to something tropical or sweet.
