V.S.O.P. stands for Very Special Oud, and Kinamic treated the name like a brief. Three oud origins, Burmese, Cambodian, and Sri Lankan, macerated together with musk, then laid over labdanum, benzoin, and cognac. The 2026 release is part of the house's Private Collection. The composition reads as a dialogue between regions and materials, dense without losing definition. Honey and fermented fruit soften the edges without sweetening the verdict. The fragrance presents itself in a 30 ML concentrated format, drawing on the tradition of Arabian perfumery where oil-based applications preserve density and slow evaporation to something closer to meditation than mist. The opening concentration sits at 35%, suggesting an extrait-grade weight rather than a standard eau de parfum dilution.
Stacking three oud origins in a single composition is uncommon, and the choice here isn't decorative. Burmese oud, Cambodian oud, and Sri Lankan oud each carry distinct signatures, and macerating all three together with musk creates a unified, deeply aged presence. The labdanum and benzoin underneath add a sticky, amber-like warmth that holds the ouds together. Cognac and fermented apple introduce a boozy, stewed-fruit lift at the top, preventing the composition from collapsing into pure resin gravity.
The evolution
The opening arrives almost aggressively dense: cognac warmth, clove heat, and fermented apple rolling in together. The oud presence soon begins to deepen everything already present, working underneath rather than pushing forward. The heart phase is where this fragrance earns its name. The oud stack grounds the composition while honey and labdanum create a thick, amber-like middle. Narcissus adds a green, slightly indolic flicker that prevents the whole thing from becoming too monastic. As the fragrance wears, the spices recede gradually. What remains is oud, musk, and a benzoin-led warmth that clings to fabric. On skin, the fragrance maintains clear presence through much of the day before settling into a close, skin-level hum. Fabrics that held it overnight carry a faint, dry oud-musk signature into the next morning.
