Heritage
A house, in its own words
Kinamic was founded by Syed Naved, a fragrance devotee whose personal library of rare oud and aged attars shaped the vision for what would become one of Dubai's most quietly influential niche labels. Operating from the United Arab Emirates, the brand emerged from a collector's obsession rather than a corporate roadmap. Naved built relationships with raw material suppliers across Southeast Asia and the Middle East, sourcing kyara-grade oud and aged distillates long before assembling any finished product. The brand's first official release was blended by master perfumer Laurent Smal, a French nose whose career began at Henry Jacques, where he spent over two decades refining his approach to haute parfumerie. That collaboration gave Kinamic its tonal signature: dense, resinous compositions that prize material rarity over conventional appeal. A subsequent collaboration introduced Qasr al Aalam, a concentrated perfume oil presented in a 15ml format and crafted with a real artisan perfumer, signaling Kinamic's commitment to attar-style concentration. The house has since expanded into a curated discovery set featuring compositions like Voice of Kyara, Oud Amalfi, VSOP, and the sold-out Dohfar, each release generating scarcity-driven demand within niche fragrance circles. Operated on a small, direct-to-enthusiast model, Kinamic continues to build its catalog through deliberate, limited drops rather than seasonal collections. Kinamic operates on a simple premise: that the finest materials, handled with patience and intent, require no embellishment. The house positions itself as a collector's atelier rather than a lifestyle brand, targeting a narrow audience of seasoned oud drinkers and attar enthusiasts who understand the difference between commercial oud accords and genuine hydro-distilled resin. Naved's curatorial philosophy rejects the trend cycle. Where many niche houses chase viral appeal or celebrity co-signs, Kinamic leans into obscurity as a feature. Limited production runs, quick sellouts, and minimal advertising keep the brand firmly within the inner circle of Arabian perfumery connoisseurs. The decision to work with Laurent Smal, a perfumer rooted in the French haute tradition, signals an intent to bridge Eastern raw materials with Western structural discipline, producing compositions that feel both ancient and composed. Sustainability of supply, not sustainability marketing, drives material selection. Kinamic sources kyara and aged oud from established trade relationships built over years, prioritizing provenance documentation and ethical harvest practices where verifiable. The result is a house that measures success in repeat collectors rather than unit volume.
