The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Spring 2015, and Jette Joop adds another chapter to the Jette collection with My Love, a blue flacon cut with the line's signature heart-shaped facets. Olivier Cresp is the nose behind it, and the brief reads like a postcard from somewhere warm: endless white beaches, turquoise water, the kind of sun that turns everything golden for a few hours. The concept is less a place than a feeling, the drowsy, salt-sweet headspace of vacation. Cresp builds that around a peach-led citrus opening that melts into a white floral heart, then drapes everything in heliotrope and musk. The result is a scent designed for the kind of day where your shoulders are bare and your hair is still damp.
What makes the composition interesting isn't the fruit up top; it's the structural choice underneath. Heliotrope, that almond-cherry powder note, shows up in the base alongside cedar and white musk, which means the sweetness never disappears, it just changes costume. The rose-ylang heart sits between the bright citrus and that creamy powder bed, so the fruit reads softer than it would alone. Cresp essentially built a dessert-adjacent drydown and asked the brighter notes to keep it from collapsing into straight sugar. The balance is the whole point.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong to peach and citrus, specifically grapefruit and tangerine giving the fruit a slight tart edge so it doesn't read candied. The lemon cuts clean. Then the florals arrive, and it's rose before ylang-ylang, which keeps the heart from going tropical-loud. The heliotrope creeps in around the thirty-minute mark, and this is where the fragrance finds its center of gravity. Everything that came before starts reading through that almond-cherry haze. By hour two, the cedar and musk have absorbed most of what came before, and what you're left with is a close, warm, slightly sweet powder on skin. The drydown carries on past that point as a heliotrope-musk softness, respected by enthusiasts for its skin-like finish. On fabric the next morning, you'll catch a ghost of the peach.
Cultural impact
Jette My Love sits comfortably within the Jette collection's broader identity as a youthful, sweetly feminine line built around white-floral-powder comfort. Wearers who love it tend to come back specifically for that soft, sweet-powder personality, and the scent is most often pulled out of the rotation in spring and summer when its airy, slightly soapy freshness reads especially well in warmer weather. The composition opens with a clean, bright citrus touch before settling into a creamy floral heart of jasmine, lily of the valley, and a powdery violet lift that gives the whole fragrance its gentle, soapy sweetness.
