The beginning
Above & Beyond didn't begin as a concept deck or a mood board. It emerged from the ISAK workshop, where the focus has always been on aromatic raw materials. The brand rebuilt itself as a contemporary niche house, taking a trade in traditional perfume materials and reshaping it for today's wearer. Above & Beyond is one of the compositions that sits in the current lineup. The brand calls it a lavish masculine. The notes tell a more grounded story: bergamot and lavender up top, patchouli and rosemary through the middle, sandalwood and amber underneath. No exoticized storytelling, no regional mysticism bolted on for marketing. Just a warm woody-aromatic built on materials the house knows intimately.
What makes this composition worth attention isn't the note list itself; it's the restraint. Woody-aromatic fragrances tend to crowd themselves with competing herbs and spices, each one trying to be the loudest voice in the room. Above & Beyond skips that. Bergamot and lavender handle the opening, a classic pairing that does the bright-clean work without demanding credit. The evolution
The first 15 minutes are all bergamot, quick and bright, the kind of citrus that exists to announce arrival before getting out of the way.
