Why it exists.
The beginning
Sempre is part of Illunee's Strappi collection, released in 2026 through a collaboration with perfumer Linea Daria. The name itself carries weight. In Italian, sempre means always, a word that promises constancy without explaining what deserves it. There is no single story pinned to a place or moment here. Instead, the fragrance operates as a portrait of a feeling, the quiet certainty of returning to something familiar and finding it still fits. The composition reads as a deliberate exercise in restraint, opening with a soft veil of amaretto-like almond sweetness that quickly folds into a heart of powdered iris and orange blossom. These florals carry a creamy, almost suede-like softness rather than sharp indolic brightness, lending the drydown a worn-in intimacy.
What makes Sempre structurally interesting is the way it loops almond through both the top and base. Most fragrances build a pyramid that moves away from their opening materials, but here the bitter almond that greets you in the first minute returns in the drydown as a warmer, sweeter dragée note, almost like a confection left on the tongue. This creates a circle rather than a progression. The cashmere wood and jasmine sambac in the heart do the heavy lifting, lending the composition its tactile, skin-like quality. Narcissus and lily of the valley add a slightly green, almost vintage floral dimension that keeps things from tipping into pure gourmand territory.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all almond. Bitter, faintly medicinal, almost like the inside of a bakery at dawn before anything sweet has fully developed. Violet cools the edges, and lotus adds a watery softness that prevents the opening from feeling sharp. By the twenty-minute mark, the florals begin to lift. Jasmine sambac enters with its creamy, slightly indolic warmth, and the lily of the valley brings a cool green sweetness that reads more like dewy petals than soap. Narcissus adds a dusty, honeyed undertone that gives the heart surprising depth. This is the phase where Sempre feels most like a cashmere sweater against bare skin, warm but not heavy, textured but not rough. Two hours in, the composition settles. The white musk takes over, powdery and clean, while the almond returns as dragée, warmer and softer than the opening. Water iris adds a cool mineral breath that keeps the drydown from becoming too sweet. Four hours in, it is mostly skin scent, a faint trail of almond and musk that lingers on fabric the next morning.
