The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Neroli Extreme belongs to the I Turchesi collection, a range of fragrances built around the bright, sun-drenched character of Mediterranean citrus. The composition draws on orange blossom, petitgrain, and marine notes, creating a scent that opens with coastal freshness before evolving across the skin throughout the day. The palette of the collection gave the perfumer a framework to explore how neroli could be restructured, moving beyond the typical trajectory of citrus fragrances. The result is a fragrance that captures something of that Venetian light, where the sea meets the city and the air carries both salt and blossom.
The surprise is in the structure. Most citrus fragrances are a single movement, bright opening, quick fade. Neroli Extreme builds three distinct acts. The opening is all coastal freshness, but galbanum's green bitterness cuts through the sweetness before the heart arrives, preventing the composition from going too soft too soon. Then the base does something unexpected: vanilla and amber don't just warm the drydown, they hold the citrus hostage, slowing its exit until vetiver finally takes over close to the skin.
The evolution
The opening hits like sunlight on skin, orange blossom, petitgrain, a whisper of marine. For the first thirty minutes, it's all brightness. Then the citrus cools, softens, and galbanum arrives with its green, slightly bitter edge. By the second hour, the heart takes over: clean musk, a touch of wood, something that feels natural and grounded. The drydown is where it earns its price. Amber and vanilla warm everything up, vetiver grounds it, and the whole thing fades into something skin-close and understated. The fragrance evolves quietly, the memory of it lingering longer than the initial brightness might suggest.
Cultural impact
Part of the I Turchesi collection, Neroli Extreme fills a specific niche: fresh enough for warm weather, warm enough to wear year-round. The fragrance offers citrus that doesn't fade quickly, paired with vanilla that remains subtle rather than dominant. It's a versatile scent that works for everyday wear, neither demanding attention nor disappearing into the background. The composition holds its own among other fragrances in the citrus-fresh category, offering a more complex alternative to simpler interpretations of the genre.
