The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name says Fraser Island, Australia's largest sand island off the Queensland coast, where tall timbers grow from sand and subtropical rainforest meets turquoise shore. Merati-Kashani built this around the island's botanical abundance: not just one wood but the layered idea of them, from the canopy down to the forest floor. He wanted to bottle an island's worth of atmosphere, humid and lush and endlessly green. The result translates Australia's raw botanical wealth into something refined enough to wear anywhere.
The key tension here is restraint. Oud can be aggressive, demanding attention. In Wood Infusion, it plays a supporting role, deepening the base without overwhelming the lighter materials above. The powdery iris and clean lavender keep it elegant, while sweet orange prevents any heaviness from creeping in. It's the kind of balance that separates a thoughtful composition from a note list.
The evolution
Sweet orange hits first. Bright, clean, like stepping onto a veranda with morning light. The citrus holds for maybe fifteen minutes before Australian lavender takes over, cool and herbal, with a softness that suggests the island's humid air rather than dry fields. Warm amber threads through, keeping the lavender from going sharp. The heart lasts a few hours, and then the island musk arrives. Not coconut, something warmer, skin-adjacent. The oud settles deep, grounding everything into sandalwood and patchouli. The base holds 6-8 hours on most. Moderate sillage. This is a fragrance that stays close.
Cultural impact
Part of the Native Collection, Wood Infusion sits alongside other Australian-inspired compositions in the Goldfield & Banks lineup. The sillage is moderate, present without projecting, which makes it practical for office environments. Community ratings place longevity in the solid range, with most wearers getting a full workday from a single application. The overall character is approachable rather than challenging, making it a bridge for those new to woody compositions.
