The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The watch dial gave it away. The bright pastel colours of the lively dial became the brief for Julie Pluchet. The brand asked for something uplifting, something that translated the energy of a pastel dial into raw material. Pluchet reached for the full spectrum: eight top notes spanning citrus, spice, and green. The goal wasn't balance, it was color. Color Dreams launched as part of the Franck Muller collection, developed with CPL Aromas, bringing the watchmaker's intricate complexity into scent for the first time. The resulting fragrance bursts from the bottle with a kaleidoscope of citrus that feels almost tangible, as if you could reach out and touch the brightness itself.
Eight top notes. That level of citrus saturation could easily collapse into noise. The trick is in the ozonic bridge, water lily and green tea don't just soften the blow, they redirect it. What could have been a headache becomes a composition with genuine tension: the bright, electric opening versus the cool, almost misty heart. It's the difference between shouting and having something worth saying. The green tea note specifically functions as an olfactory palate cleanser, preventing the citrus from cloying while the base notes gather themselves underneath.
The evolution
Grapefruit hits first, sharp, almost acidic. Bergamot follows, then mandarin, lemon, and blackcurrant arriving in quick succession. Cardamom and clary sage arrive mid-opening, adding herbal warmth that prevents the citrus from feeling synthetic. The citrus opens like a sunrise, all brightness and sparkle, with each note distinct yet blending into a cohesive whole. The bergamot adds a sophisticated bitter edge while blackcurrant brings a faint berry darkness that keeps the top from becoming one-dimensional. As the bright citrus begins to recede, ozonic notes rise, that clean, atmospheric quality that lifts the composition into something more ethereal. Water lily appears here, soft and slightly sweet, while green tea keeps everything grounded and cool. The heart unfolds gradually, the ozonic air weaving between floral and green elements to create a space that feels expansive and serene.
Cultural impact
Color Dreams offers a dense citrus opening paired with a cool, ozonic heart. The fragrance looks simple on first smell but reveals more on each wearing, its layered construction rewarding attention. Fresh, aquatic compositions with genuine complexity underneath the surface brightness appeal to those who appreciate depth in fragrance. Color Dreams fits this philosophy, inviting the wearer to discover its subtleties over time rather than relying on initial impressions alone. It represents a commitment to olfactory complexity that challenges those who assume luxury fragrance means simply wearing a recognizable name.
