The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nitro Gold arrived in 2026 from Stéphane Garavagno, designed as a bold statement within Dumont's Nitro collection, a line built on strength and intensity. The brief was simple: take the confident presence that defines the house and make it warmer, more approachable, and unmistakably unisex. Garavagno answered with a composition that opens bright and fruity, then refuses to soften until the very end. The gold isn't metaphorical. It's the color of arrival, of refusing to whisper.
The top six notes create a deliberately loud opening, pineapple, apple, tangerine, grapefruit, all sweetness and brightness. The pink and black pepper add a spicy lift, but the real structural move is what comes next. Cedarwood, salt, and cognac in the heart are an unexpected combination for a fragrance this fruity. Instead of the sweetness dissipating into something generic, the woody-mineral heart gives it weight. The salt note is particularly interesting, it doesn't read as aquatic or marine, but rather as a mineral counterweight to the fruit, keeping the composition from tipping into dessert territory.
The evolution
On skin, the opening hits bright and sweet, pineapple and tangerine with a pink pepper lift that makes the citrus sparkle. The apple reads crisp and green, grounding the sweetness without dulling it. Around 30 minutes in, the heart begins its takeover: cedarwood and vetiver arrive with a mineral quality from the salt and marine notes, while the cognac adds a warmth that feels almost tactile. The transition isn't dramatic, it's the slow shift from a tropical drink to a warm wooden surface. By hour three, the base takes over. Amberwood and sandalwood form the structure, vanilla and toffee add a sweetness that echoes the opening without repeating it, and the musk keeps everything close to the skin. The drydown on fabric the next morning: a faint warmth, still recognizable, still inviting.
Cultural impact
Nitro Gold arrives during a shift in how masculine fragrances are positioned and perceived. The fruit-forward, warm profile challenges old-school distinctions between masculine and feminine scent families, reflecting a broader movement toward gender-neutral fragrance marketing. Dumont's Nitro collection as a whole leans into a bold, energetic identity that mirrors contemporary streetwear culture and modern masculine aesthetics. Community-driven fragrance culture, particularly on Reddit and YouTube, has accelerated the visibility of releases like this one, creating demand for scents that feel both wearable and distinctive.
