The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Catherine Selig created Be Delicious Ice Pop Very Cherry in 2025 as part of DKNY's Be Delicious Ice Pop collection. The concept bridges frozen treats and personal scent, that specific moment when summer heat breaks against something cold and sweet, like an ice pop melting on your tongue. The collection leans into playfulness and nostalgia, translating that frozen instant into a fragrance you can wear. Nothing complicated. Just the point where sweet meets cool, made portable.
The composition builds around a frozen-sweet cherry ice cream note that anchors the opening, supported by tropical lychee and bright bergamot. The heart adds floral depth through peony, corn rose, and pear, giving the sweetness somewhere to go beyond just sugar. The base of sandalwood and musk grounds everything, preventing the scent from remaining purely novelty. It's not trying to be sophisticated. That's the point. The Be Delicious Ice Pop line exists to be exactly what it sounds like, sweet, summery, and unapologetically fun.
The evolution
The opening hits cold and sweet, cherry ice cream with bergamot creating that frozen effect. Within minutes, the chill softens as lychee brings tropical sweetness and the florals begin to surface. Peony and corn rose take over the heart, with pear adding a juicy, slightly powdery sweetness that rounds out the fruit. The drydown arrives around two hours in as the sweetness finally settles into warm skin. Sandalwood and musk linger close, giving the finish a soft, intimate quality that extends the summery feeling without trying to be anything more complex.
Cultural impact
The Be Delicious Ice Pop line positions itself as designer fragrance for people who want something fun and summery rather than serious or intimidating. It continues Donna Karan's tradition of understanding how modern women actually live, creating scents that work for everyday moments rather than special occasions. The frozen-treat concept is part of a broader movement toward playful, accessible fragrance, no-nonsense sweetness without the pretense.
