The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alberto Morillas built Love Is Love as a 2020 limited edition within the Light Blue universe. This flanker adds a new dimension to the collection, introducing an ice cream accord that brings cold, sweet, slightly tart apple gelato to the scent. The frozen dessert quality creates an unexpected but harmonious note within the Light Blue lineage. Morillas incorporated this dessert-inspired element to add playful depth while maintaining the collection's essence. The result is a fragrance that feels both familiar and surprising, balancing creamy sweetness with crisp fruit notes that evoke the appeal of a cool treat on a warm day.
What makes the pyramid unusual is the interplay between cool and warm elements at its center. The ice cream accord and rosemary create an unexpected contrast, one suggesting cool sweetness, the other a dry herbal quality. Pink pepper provides the bridge between these seemingly opposite notes, a spice that smells clean rather than hot, allowing the herb and the dairy to occupy the same space without collapsing into each other.
The evolution
It opens crisp. Aggressively so. The Granny Smith apple and grapefruit hit together like the first sip of a cold drink, and for a good while the citrus dominates, barely letting the other notes breathe. Then something shifts. The apple doesn't disappear, it transforms, going cold and creamy as the ice cream accord arrives, and the rosemary surfaces like a dry herbal breeze cutting through frozen sweetness. Pink pepper adds a clean prickle that keeps things from going fully dessert. The base is where it becomes yours. Amberwood provides a warm woody skeleton, vanilla softens everything into skin-warmth, and the musks keep the sillage intimate. The drydown settles into something personal and lasting, a lingering presence that remains close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Light Blue Love Is Love Pour Homme joined the Light Blue family as a 2020 limited summer edition, adding sweetness and a dessert-like quality to a franchise known for its breezy citrus character. It sits alongside flankers like Light Blue Eau Intense, each interpreting the Mediterranean summer brief differently. The ice cream accord gave it a distinct identity within the collection, a different direction that sets it apart from other releases. Those drawn to sweet fragrances without full gourmand territory will find this a compelling option within the Light Blue lineup.
