Why it exists.
The beginning
Blessings Purple started as a private commission. Belinda Brown had long carried a fascination with scent, and when she decided she wanted a fragrance that felt entirely her own, she went straight to Roja Dove. The original Blessings was a bespoke commission, a one-off that Brown eventually chose to share more broadly. That first collaboration set the template for what would follow: a partnership grounded in restraint, where every note had to earn its place and the composition had to feel considered rather than crowded. Brown brought the vision, Dove brought the precision, and together they produced something that felt neither like a celebrity vanity project nor like a conventional launch.
Blessings Purple is the pure perfume expression of that debut, the most concentrated reading of the composition Dove built. Where the eau de parfum whispers, this version holds a conversation. Dove built the composition around Grasse jasmine, the May rose, and a base that leans sweet without tipping into sugar. The floral accord is given room to breathe, and the base materials are allowed to assert themselves more fully, lending the juice a denser sillage and a longer trail on skin.
The evolution
The opening is all citrus, and the citrus is bright enough to feel like a gesture, a hello. Bergamot gives it that green-peel lift, lemon cuts the sweetness before it has a chance to form, and mandarin rounds the corners with a soft, almost candied warmth. Then the florals arrive, and they don't sneak in. Grasse jasmine comes forward with a creamy weight that anchors the composition. May rose softens the edges, adds a dewy, petal-fresh lift that keeps the jasmine from going dense or indolic. Within the first stretch of wear, the heart fully takes over. Vanilla arrives earlier than you might expect, and it does something particular here. It doesn't read as dessert. It reads as skin. Tonka adds a faint almond warmth underneath the vanilla, sweet but never sticky, lending a soft powdery facet to the accord.
