The beginning
Elise Pierre composed Exalté in 2026 as Astre's answer to a feeling the brand kept circling back to: the immensity beneath endless skies. Not the sky itself, but what holds it up. The composition opens with Japanese lychee and passion fruit, a bright and lush entry that sets the tone before settling into its warmer layers. The name carries the intent: this is a fragrance designed to lift, to open up the space a person occupies when they walk into a room. Astre released it as a 50 ml Extrait de Parfum, giving the fruit and the creamy base enough concentration to carry that sense of openness from the first spray through the final hours of wear. The extrait format means the lychee doesn't just flash and disappear.
What makes Exalté structurally interesting is the tension between its CO2 extracts and its absolutes. Ginger CO2 and Pink Pepper CO2 bring a clean, almost metallic heat that sits alongside the lush softness of ambrette seed absolute and Guatemala cardamom absolute. CO2 extracts read as bright and crystalline, while absolutes lean richer, fuller, almost edible in their depth. The fruit up top feels sun-warmed rather than candied because the heat underneath is botanical rather than sugary.
The evolution
The opening minutes are a lychee statement, almost aggressive in its juiciness, the passion fruit threading through it like a second voice. Then the ginger and pink pepper arrive, and the fruit gets cracked open, spiced from within. As the hours pass, the passion fruit softens, and the ambrette starts working its particular magic: a skin-like warmth that smells more like musk than fruit. Eventually the white musk and vanilla CO2 absorb everything else into a creamy, close-to-skin hum. The sandalwood holds the base steady, and the Indonesian patchouli adds just enough shadow to keep the sweetness from going juvenile.
