The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vibgyor arrived in 2012 as part of Asgharali's catalog, a Bahraini house with a long history in perfumery. Asgharali built its reputation quietly, working within traditions that place scent at the center of hospitality and ritual. Vibgyor is something else. A bottled composition aimed at a broader audience, one that reaches beyond a single mood or category. The fragrance gathers fruit and softness into a single arc, and that arc is the point. The brand made it accessible without flattening it. That's the trick. On skin, the opening reads as a tumble of ripe fruit, bright and unapologetic, the kind of sweetness that announces itself the moment you spray. The passion fruit brings a tropical tartness that cuts through, while strawberry layers in something rounder, fuller.
The composition works because the fruity top sits on a base that refuses to behave like a fruit cocktail. Milk is an unusual anchor, period. It brings a lactic, almost yogurt-like creaminess that rounds off the sharpness of passion fruit and strawberry, softening the sharper edges of the opening without tipping into anything cloying. Sandalwood underneath adds weight, giving the fruit something solid to rest against as the hours pass.
The evolution
The opening is loud, for about ten minutes. Blackcurrant hits sharp and slightly tart, joined by passion fruit's tropical tang and strawberry's jammy roundness. It's a fruit basket, and it announces itself. By the twenty-minute mark the sharpness softens. The heart phase is raspberry and red fruits drifting over a woody thread, less tropical, more like jam cooling on a wooden spoon. The transition into drydown is where Vibgyor finds its real voice. Around the two-hour mark the milk note begins to register, that pale, creamy sweetness that sits just under the fruit like warm milk left on a counter. Sandalwood anchors it from below, smooth and unassuming, adding a quiet gravity that keeps the composition from floating away. The whole thing settles into a skin-close, slightly lactonic warmth that lasts well into the afternoon and fades clean.
Cultural impact
Vibgyor entered Asgharali's lineup in 2012, a fruit-led composition that arrived as part of a broader shift within the brand's bottled offerings. The name Vibgyor, often associated with the rainbow in Hindi, gave the release a bright and playful identity from the start. Rather than the heavier, smoky registers that often anchor the brand's other work, Vibgyor opens with a fruit basket and grounds itself in something soft, milk and sandalwood keeping the sweetness honest. That pairing made it unusually versatile. It works comfortably as a daily wear option, warm enough to feel grounded, bright enough to feel modern.
