The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Play In Blue Seduction arrived in 2017 as part of the Blue Seduction collection. This flanker took the aquatic-citrus signature of the original and gave it more room to breathe, more weight in the drydown. The fragrance transitions from an initial bright, cool opening toward a richer, more textured base as the top notes soften. The name says it plainly: Play In. Not seduction as mystery, but something more direct, more relaxed.
The melon is the tell. It keeps the bergamot from sharpening, gives the citrus something soft to land on, a sweetness that doesn't announce itself but changes the whole character of the opening. Cardamom and nutmeg in the heart are where the warmth lives, the spices that make this feel like heat rather than just freshness. Cedarwood, sandalwood, moss: the base is creamy and close, woods that don't compete with the cool opening but extend it into something longer, more intimate. The composition balances two impulses, aquatic freshness and woody warmth, without letting either win. That's the trick of it. Not fresh, not warm. Fresh then warm, the way a day at the coast actually feels.
The evolution
The opening is cool water and bright light. Melon and bergamot arrive together, the citrus lifting while the fruit keeps everything grounded, not sweet exactly, but present. The mint sneaks in beneath, a chill that reads as clean rather than sharp. Thirty minutes in, the heart opens. Cardamom and nutmeg land warm against the cool opening, and the fragrance shifts from morning-fresh to something with more intention. The green of the mint softens. The melon recedes but doesn't disappear. By the second hour, cedarwood has arrived. Sandalwood follows, creamy and close. Amber holds everything together in a warmth that stays near the skin. Moss adds a faint earthiness, almost undetectable, but it keeps the woods from reading as purely woody. The drydown is intimate by design, present without projection, the kind of scent someone notices when they're standing beside you, not across the room.
Cultural impact
The Blue Seduction collection occupies a specific register: confidence made accessible. Play In Blue Seduction, the 2017 entry, takes that signature and pushes it slightly warmer, slightly spicier. The fresh-spicy-woody composition builds from a melon opening that feels cool and fruit-forward without synthetic edge, setting it apart from more typical aquatic fragrances. The melon note carries through the heart while spices and woods develop underneath, creating a layered effect that rewards close attention. This flanker offers more complexity than the original, with a drydown that lingers close to the skin for intimate wear.
