The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alguien No 2 belongs to the independent house Alguien, born from the hand of its author, Asier Tapia. The Spanish word alguien translates to someone, and the project takes that word as its guiding principle, treating each release as a statement of authorship rather than imitation. Described by its maker as the little sister of the family of perfumes, No 2 carries a distinct character of its own while remaining rooted in the same world. The presentation reflects this: only 50 bottles of 500 ml and 350 bottles of 250 ml were produced, each one accompanied by a numbered silkscreen print created by artist Asier Mendizabal. That pairing of scent and image turns every bottle into a singular object, a piece of a larger body of work rather than a mass-produced commodity.
What makes the composition worth a second look is the deliberate tension between cooling and warming elements. Mint and galbanum bring a sharp, almost metallic green cold at the top. Clove, bay leaf, and rosemary pull the heart into something spiced and savory. The base grounds it with oakmoss, vetiver, and patchouli, a classic chypre skeleton underneath something more aromatic and modern. It's green-spicy done with structural discipline rather than decoration.
The evolution
The opening hits like cold water. Mint and galbanum register sharp and clean, almost medicinal, with Calabrian bergamot adding a brief thread of citrus brightness before the herbal notes take over. The green character settles into something warmer as the minutes pass. Clove opens up against fig leaf and basil, turning the scent from fresh to savory. Rosemary adds a resinous pull, juniper a dry sharpness. The heart holds this aromatic warmth through the early hours, neither projecting aggressively nor disappearing. As the drydown approaches, oakmoss and vetiver settle in, giving the composition a damp, earthy gravity. Indonesian patchouli leaf adds a raw, slightly bitter undertone that keeps the base from going too sweet. Tolu balsam brings a quiet warmth, like resin on skin hours later.
Cultural impact
Alguien No 2 was produced in very limited numbers, with only 50 bottles of 500 ml and 350 bottles of 250 ml released in total. That scarcity immediately places the fragrance outside the reach of mass distribution and within a world of small, carefully counted editions. The decision to pair each bottle with a numbered silkscreen print by artist Asier Mendizabal extends the object beyond scent into something more closely resembling a limited art edition. The print is signed and numbered, turning the purchase into a two-part artifact: a liquid composition and a printed image, each tied to the other by a shared numeral.
