The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Myth trio arrived in 2017, comprising Myth Bloom, Myth Wood,,and Black Nomad. Each one represented a chapter in Zlatan's self-described mythology, a framework he used to translate personal ambition into scent. Myth Wood went deeper into territory that mattered to the man himself: Swedish forests, the kind that stretch north past Stockholm with a certain austere beauty. The perfumer Olivier Pescheux understood this brief, building a fragrance that drew from the same landscape that shaped one of football's most singular careers.
The note selection in Myth Wood reflects a philosophy of purposeful restraint. Sage brings herbal clarity without the sweetness of other herbs. Grapefruit provides citrus without the generic quality found in many fragrances. Pine forms the thematic center, connecting the scent to Swedish forest territory. Moss grounds the composition with earthy authenticity. Tog ether, these notes create something that feels deeply considered rather than arbitrarily constructed. The fragrance works because each note earns its place, supporting the forest narrative that defines the entire Myth collection.
The evolution
The opening of Grapefruit and Sage creates a bright, purposeful introduction that announces itself without apology. The Grapefruit brings clean citrus energy while Sage adds herbal depth that keeps the opening grounded. Within minutes, the heart transitions to Pine, the fragrance's central aromatic material, establishing the connection to Swedish forest territory that gives the scent its identity. Lavender tempers the Pine's sharp edges, creating a heart that feels both cool and resolved. As the heart fades, Woody Notes provide a smooth transition to the base, where Moss introduces an earthy, damp quality that recalls forest floors after rain. The progression moves from open sky through forest canopy to the quiet earth below, each stage named and intentional.
Cultural impact
Myth Wood sits comfortably in the accessible niche space, fragrance enthusiasts who want something with more character than mainstream offerings but without the commitment required by higher-end houses. The woody-aromatic category it occupies has a long history, from traditional fougères forward, and Myth Wood doesn't try to reinvent it. What it offers is clarity: honest materials, no tricks, a Scandinavian restraint that reads as confidence rather than timidity. The moderate performance and straightforward composition make it a reliable option for daily wear in professional or casual contexts.
