The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2013, Xquiscents invited perfumer Gilbert Parker to craft a scent that would echo the brand's Intimate storytelling ethos. The collective, founded in 2010 in the United Kingdom, had already explored personal vignettes with Temptation Sensations. Love Again was conceived as a modern love letter, built on the poetry of desire and reunion. Parker approached the brief by starting with an opening that captures the immediate flush of emotion, selecting Apricot, Bergamot, and Peach to evoke the sensation of unexpected connection with someone familiar. This fruity foundation, grounded by citrus brightness, mirrors the initial spike of recognition and renewed interest that defines the fragrance's narrative premise.
Parker selected these particular ingredients because they each carry emotional resonance within fragrance tradition. Apricot and Peach represent the fleeting sweetness of new-old attraction, their overlapping stone fruit characters creating olfactory shorthand for intimacy and warmth. The floral heart was designed to evoke the overwhelming sensation of being surrounded by someone whose presence rearranges your surroundings, hence the generous layering of complementary blooms. Heliotrope and Violet were chosen specifically for their powdery facets, adding a nostalgic quality that connects present emotion to remembered romance.
The evolution
The fragrance evolves like chapter two of an established romance: immediate excitement gives way to deeper exploration. Apricot and Peach create a nectarous opening that feels inviting and warm, while Bergamot keeps the introduction from becoming cloying. As time passes, Heliotrope emerges with its characteristic powdery sweetness, intertwining with Jasmine's heady indolic presence. Rose petals unfurl alongside Ylang-Ylang's tropical creaminess, while Lily of the Valley injects a clean, garden-like freshness and Violet adds quiet powder. The result is a heart that feels abundant and romantic, a bouquet that truly blooms on the skin. Eventually the florals soften into Sandalwood's creamy embrace, Amber's warm resinous glow, and Musk's Intimate signature, completing a narrative arc from bright reunion to settled connection.
Cultural impact
Since its 2013 debut, Love Again has become a subtle cultural touchstone for millennial couples seeking a scent that balances youthful optimism with classic romance. The apricot and peach top notes echo the resurgence of fruit‑forward compositions in early‑2020s pop culture, while the soft floral heart aligns with the era’s emphasis on gentle self‑expression. Social media posts frequently pair the fragrance with springtime outings, reinforcing its association with renewal and shared moments. Over the years, the scent has appeared in wedding playlists and brunch gatherings, cementing its role as a backdrop for Intimate celebrations and everyday joy, reflecting broader trends toward approachable luxury and emotional storytelling in fragrance consumption.
