The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Holiday Edition arrived in 2019. A collector's bottle, yes, but also an occasion to reconsider the foundations of a fragrance that had built something lasting. The four perfumers, Olivier Polge, Carlos Benaïm, Dominique Ropion, and Domitille Michalon Bertier, worked within the framework of a beloved composition and explored its potential further. The holiday season gave them permission: a time when generosity in scent feels natural, when you want to give something that wraps around the wearer like a gift they're already holding. The result is an edition that feels warm and enveloping, inviting you to linger and discover its layers with each wear.
What makes this edition interesting isn't a structural departure, it's the accumulation. The praline-vanilla base that gives Flowerbomb its signature drydown receives extra warmth here, making the finish linger longer on the skin. Osmanthus threads through the heart and gives the florals something to do besides simply arrive. The tea keeps it grounded, the woody notes keep it from floating away entirely. This is a fragrance that knows what it wants to be and goes all the way there.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright and almost sparkling, mandarin and bergamot with a green undertone from the tea that keeps the citrus honest. No cartoon-sweetness here. The florals build slowly, arriving not all at once but in waves: jasmine first, then osmanthus bringing that apricot-blossom note that makes this heart feel different from the original. Freesia keeps it light. May rose adds just a whisper of spice. Then the base arrives and settles in for the long game, praline and vanilla at the front, patchouli keeping it from becoming purely dessert, amber and woody notes holding everything in place. The drydown is warm without being heavy. It stays close to the skin but announces itself when you move.
Cultural impact
The Holiday Edition arrived as a collector's bottle, a format that invites keeping rather than using. For those who already knew Flowerbomb, it offered a way to revisit a scent in a form that felt special and worth preserving. The 2019 release brought the fragrance into the holiday conversation, where gifting and indulgence naturally intersect. There is something about the season that makes you more willing to invest in a bottle that looks as good as it smells, and this edition seemed designed for exactly that moment.
