The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vera Wang's Princess line launched with Princess (2006) and Flower Princess (2006), later expanding with Rock Princess (April 2009). Glam Princess arrived December 2009 as the fourth princess. The fragrance offers tropical sweetness, honeyed warmth, and a marshmallow softness that feels like the scent equivalent of asking for what you want and getting it.
The structure is built on contrast. Tropical fruits, guava, pear, red currant, hit the top with brightness and bite. Then the heart softens into honey and vanilla orchid, the kind of warmth that makes you lean closer. But the base is where Glam Princess earns its name: cashmere wood and cedar ground the sweetness in something woody and adult, while ambrette and marshmallow extend the warmth without turning it into pure confection. It's sweet enough to love, grounded enough to wear.
The evolution
Glam Princess opens loud. Guava and pear arrive together, sweet, ripe, almost edible. Red currant adds a sharp brightness that cuts through, preventing the opening from becoming syrupy. This is the entrance, and it knows it. The fruitiness settles and the heart takes over: vanilla orchid and honey blend into something warm and slightly powdery. The African orange flower keeps it bright, but the sweetness doesn't let go. This isn't a fragrance that pauses. The base arrives: cashmere wood and cedar provide the framework, but they're soft woods, sanded down to something almost creamy. Ambrette adds a musky whisper. The marshmallow keeps the sweetness going into the drydown, warm, close, intimate. The sillage stays moderate, which means it trails without announcing. The next morning, there's a faint honey-vanilla warmth left on the wrist. Not aggressive.
Cultural impact
Glam Princess arrived as the fourth princess in a collection that includes Princess (2006), Flower Princess (2006), and Rock Princess (April 2009). The line built a following around accessible luxury with a whimsical edge. Each scent in the collection approaches sweetness from a different angle, from fruity to floral to gourmand interpretations. The collection established a cohesive identity, and Glam Princess continues that trajectory. The fragrance blends floral and fruity notes with gourmand elements, creating something cohesive and confident, appealing to those who want sweetness without apology.
