The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name Seba derives from the Arabic word denoting youthful enthusiasm, chosen by founder Dhaher Bin Dhaher to embody the effervescent spirit of early life. When Bin Dhaher conceived this 2022 release, his intent was to freeze a specific moment of purity and spontaneity, the kind of candlelight glow that belongs to childhood remembrances. Yet he also demanded that Seba possess thecapacity to grow alongside its wearer, shifting from innocent to composed as life progresses.
The pairing of strawberry with violet leaf in the top notes reflects a deliberate effort to marry synthetic convenience with botanical authenticity. Strawberry notes in fragrance often trend overly saccharine, so pairing it with violet leaf's green austerity creates balance. Similarly, gardenia and heliotrope share an innate powdery kinship that makes them natural partners in the heart, while orris root adds a touch of complexity reserved for more sophisticated compositions. The warm base of musk, vanilla, and amber provides universal appeal without resorting to cheap sweetness.
The evolution
The scent journey of Seba begins with violet leaf delivering that unmistakable dewy-green rush, as if one has just crushed a freshly picked leaf between fingers. Strawberry arrives moments later, its fruit-like brightness injecting a playful accessibility that immediately differentiates Seba from more austere compositions. Star anise enters the picture with a distinctive black licorice character that some nostrils will clock immediately while others will vaguely register it as an oddly spicy undertone. As this initial chapter fades, gardenia blooms fully into the foreground, commanding attention with its creamy, jasmine-adjacent white floral presence. Heliotrope and orris root layer beneath, creating a powdery, slightly root-like depth that prevents the florals from floating into abstraction. The drydown anchors everything in musks, vanilla, and amber, a trio so dependable that its execution here feels effortless and unhurried.
Cultural impact
Since its 2022 launch, Seba has resonated with a generation seeking bright yet comforting fragrances that echo youthful optimism. The violet leaf note evokes Mediterranean gardens, while strawberry and anise capture playful street‑market aromas, linking modern urban life with traditional scent memories. Consumers have reported that the fragrance sparks conversations about personal heritage, and its balanced composition has been cited in social media as a bridge between nostalgic childhood scents and contemporary style. This cultural bridge has helped Tola expand its audience beyond niche collectors to everyday wearers, reinforcing the brand’s narrative of inclusive, vibrant expression across diverse communities.
