Why it exists.
The beginning
Pomegranate Jewel arrived in 2023 as part of The Dua Brand's Original Blend Collection. Mahsam Raza composed the fragrance with a clear focus: pomegranate as the centerpiece, driving the entire composition rather than serving as an accent. The pomegranate note leads from the first spray, flanked by lingonberry, woodland strawberry, and mandarin for tartness, while water mint lifts the top with a cool, green snap. The result is less a single fruit than a whole berry cart, sharpened and dressed up. Each supporting note plays into the pomegranate rather than against it, creating a layered tartness that shifts as the fragrance develops.
The composition reveals itself in careful layers, and every note has a purpose within the architecture. Aldehydes sit high in the pyramid, lending the opening a clean, soapy sparkle that catches the light. White frankincense anchors the base with a resinous quality. Iris and rose carry the floral weight, but they're shaped by the fruit rather than competing with it, allowing the berries to maintain their presence while the florals add depth and softness. The interplay between fruit and flower is what gives Pomegranate Jewel its sense of intention.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are all fizz. Aldehydes crack open the top with that clean, metallic sparkle, and the pomegranate arrives almost immediately, tart and bright, undercut by mandarin and water mint. Lingonberry joins the fruit quickly, adding a sharper, more Nordic edge. Strawberry sweetens the corners but never dominates. It smells like cracking open a cold fruit in a clean room, every facet of the berry accord finding its place. The mint keeps the opening from feeling heavy, threading coolness through the tartness and lifting the whole composition into something crisp and immediate. By the thirty-minute mark, the aldehydes fade and the floral heart takes over. Water lily and iris bring a soft, powdery quality that cushions the fruit. Lily of the valley adds green sweetness, while rose threads warmth through the middle.
