The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Enchantment launched in 2017 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. The composition weaves citrus brightness into mossy, resinous depth, opening with a bright, lifted quality before settling into something darker and more grounded. According to the brand, the scent was composed as an Extrait de Parfum, concentrating the formula for wearers who appreciate higher-strength presentations. The formula is vegan and built without animal-derived ingredients, aligning with the brand's broader formulation ethos. Citrus notes provide the initial sparkle, a quick burst that catches the air before giving way to the warmer, more textured elements waiting underneath.
The base layer is where Enchantment earns its name. Carrot seed and cardamom give the drydown an earthy-spiced edge that most woody-citrus compositions skip. Tree moss and oakmoss stack for a damp, almost forest-floor quality, while benzoin and vanilla pull everything toward a soft, resinous warmth. Iris threads through the whole structure, adding a powdery coolness that keeps the sweetness in check.
The evolution
The first 20 minutes belong to grapefruit and bergamot, sharp and almost mineral. They don't linger long. Orange blossom rises through the second hour, carrying a creamy, slightly soapy softness that bridges the bright top to the grounded base. By hour three, patchouli, vetiver, and the mosses take over. The iris becomes more pronounced here, a cool, dry powder sitting over warm wood. At hour six, benzoin and vanilla have absorbed everything else into something smooth and close to the skin. The carrot seed and cardamom keep it from going too sweet. What remains at hour eight is a faint trace of musk, vanilla, and cedarwood, warm and slightly dusty, like fabric that's held onto the day.
Cultural impact
Enchantment sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, a line that draws inspiration from existing scents offered by a renowned UK retailer. The composition's strength is its drydown: the iris-and-moss base has a stately quality that distinguishes it from the brand's sweeter, more gourmand-leaning releases. The base settles into something rich and contemplative, with moss lending a damp, forest-floor character while iris adds a cool, powdery counterpoint.
