The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dua Mukhallat Series 005 joined the brand's Mukhallat collection in 2022 as the fifth installment in a series of extrait-strength compositions. The composition leans into florals with a serious commitment, layering orange blossom, ylang-ylang, tuberose, jasmine, rose, heliotrope, and orris into a single structure that reads less like a bouquet and more like a statement of intent. The Dua Brand built this one for wearers who feel the classic powerhouse florals of the past didn't get the respect they deserved. With eight named florals in play plus heliotrope and orris root, the formula takes a position: dense, unapologetic, and loaded with the kind of white floral intensity that rarely shows up in modern launches.
What makes Series 005 structurally interesting is the sheer breadth of the floral bill. Eight named florals plus orris root and heliotrope is a lot of material, and the trick is how the supporting cast organizes everything. Carnation, lily of the valley, and orchid add layers of spice, green freshness, and a creamy warmth respectively, while civet and honey provide an almost animalic sweetness underneath that keeps the bouquet from feeling sterile. Oakmoss and sandalwood anchor everything, giving the florals somewhere to land instead of floating apart.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are the loudest. Bergamot, lemon, and tarragon crack open with a green, almost herbal brightness, then the florals rush in fast. By the 30-minute mark, the white floral heart has fully taken over: tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang all speaking at once, with honey thickening everything into something that sits close but projects. The drydown, which begins around the 3-hour mark, is where civet earns its place. That animalic warmth, paired with amber, vanilla, and tonka bean, turns the bouquet into something warmer and more skin-like. By hour 6, the sandalwood and musk are doing the quiet work, leaving a soft, creamy, slightly sweet trail on clothes the next morning. The extrait format means it doesn't vanish quietly. It just changes costume.
Cultural impact
Mukhallat fragrances hold a place in Arabian perfumery as compositions built around the blending of multiple oils, woods, and florals into layered personal signatures worn close to the skin. The Mukhallat Series 005 from The Dua Brand operates within this tradition, offering a high-concentration composition that appeals to enthusiasts who value depth and longevity in their scent wardrobe. The name itself signals the concept of blending, and the composition delivers on that promise with a formula that brings together florals, woods, animalic notes, and base materials in a single structure.
