The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Cherry Milano is a 2026 release from The Dua Brand, composed by perfumer Mahsam Raza. The name points somewhere specific, toward a Milanese elegance dressed in darker colors, cherry liqueur instead of pastry, spice where you'd expect sweetness. This one sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line, a collection that studies the architecture of well-known compositions and presents them in extrait de parfum concentration. Raza built this one around a sour cherry and brandy opening that reads more like an after-dinner pour than a dessert course. He structured it as a woody spicy extrait de parfum, layering tart fruit against herbal sharpness and a resinous drydown that earns its weight.
What makes this composition interesting is the tension between the gourmand-leaning top and the aggressively herbal heart. Sour cherry and brandy read indulgent, almost edible, then davana, rosemary, and juniper arrive and refuse to let it stay sweet. Davana in particular is an unusual middle-note choice for a cherry-led scent. It brings a fermented edge, a slightly bitter warmth that grounds the fruit instead of letting it float. The rosemary-juniper pairing adds a coniferous clarity, like crushed pine needles dropped into the glass.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes belong to the fruit. Sour cherry and brandy arrive together, boozy and almost aggressive in their brightness, with coriander threading green sharpness underneath. It smells like a liqueur poured over crushed herbs. Then something shifts. The cherry doesn't vanish, it gets reframed. Davana moves in with its bitter, almost medicinal edge, and rosemary plus juniper push the composition toward something colder, more architectural. The gourmand warmth drains out and what replaces it feels almost coniferous, dry, aromatic. By the third hour, the sandalwood and vetiver have built the floor. Myrrh arrives last, resinous and a little smoky, and it stays. The drydown deepens into something dense and meditative, the wood and resin settling into a warm base that lingers close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Cherry Milano sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line, a collection that draws on the architecture of well-known compositions and renders them in extrait de parfum concentration. This particular release leans into the darker end of the brand's range, with boozy cherry and brandy up top, an herbal heart of davana, rosemary, and juniper, and a resinous base of sandalwood, vetiver, and myrrh. The result reads less like a mass-market gourmand and more like something a perfumer built deliberately around contrast, where the fruit pulls toward indulgence while the herbs and resins pull it somewhere drier, more grown.
